David Damiete Dokubo who goes by the stage name of Makieba, meaning “teach them”, is a talented songwriter, singer, and rapper.
He was born on the 19th of February 1991 in Port-Harcourt, Nigeria.
From a very young age, Makieba had a great interest in music composition and the ability to creatively craft stories through song.
As a young man, born into a family where formal education was key, he graduated school and in 2010 went on to enroll in Kogi State University’s law program. He later transferred to the University of Manitoba, Canada to pursue a degree in Political Studies.
It was whilst in Canada that Makieba began to immerse himself in composition techniques and sound engineering, under the mentorship of Andrew Yankewsky of Precursor Productions. He graduated in 2015 and returned to Lagos, Nigeria.
Influenced by the music of Damian Marley, Drake, and Cobhams, Makieba set up Odd Country Productions and has recorded a host of songs including “New School Girl”, “Rock The Boat” and “She Said”. This talented artist and songwriter are about to take the Nigerian music industry by storm.
